Adoption of technology and marketing network for iron-rich beans
The project "Regional Alliances for the dissemination of iron-rich beans in Latin America and the Caribbean" carried out the first Workshop on Agribusiness, along with the application of a survey to evaluate the acceptance and/or adoption of technologies by the Association of Bean Cane Producers, as well as producers from the communities of Chitra and Santa Fe, in the province of Veraguas; Caisán, Santa Cruz and Miraflores, in the province of Chiriquí; Cerro Mesa, Cerro Tula and Boca del Monte, in the Ngäbe Buglé Region and Las Playitas, Virotales and Quebrada Ciprian, in the province of Herrera.
During these activities, 89 producers were trained, who had the opportunity to learn about the benefits of agribusiness focused on a differentiated product: beans, characterized by their unique properties and high iron content.
In addition, it was proposed to establish a communication network between grain producers and marketers, facilitating the exchange of information on the supply and demand of the IDIAP P-1338 and IDIAP P-0911 varieties, both enriched with iron.
