Holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the Catholic University of Pelotas, a Master's degree in Plant Breeding, and a Ph.D. in Seed Science and Technology, both from the Federal University of Pelotas. Between 1997 and 2001, she worked as a professor and researcher at the Catholic University of Pelotas. She is currently a researcher at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa).
From 2001 to 2005, she worked at Embrapa Trigo, where she coordinated the maize breeding program for the temperate climate region and was responsible for the development and release of new maize varieties and lines for southern Brazil. Since 2006, she has been working at Embrapa Clima Temperado, focusing on the genetic improvement of annual crops (grain maize and sorghum), specifically for low-altitude environments in Rio Grande do Sul. She has also led projects in the fields of bioenergy and production systems.
Currently, she is involved in potato breeding, focusing on the development of cultivars for both the fresh market and the processing industry (frozen French fries and chips). She was a member of Embrapa’s Cannabis Working Group and currently chairs the Permanent Strategic Advisory Committee to the Executive Board on cannabis-related matters.
